APIMELEKI VAKARAU

 

 

ESSENCE OF FIJI, assisted with Tokani Arts, appointed local artist, Apimeleki (Api) Vakarau, who created a selection of art exclusively for its product packaging. An unfortunate rugby accident left Api a quadriplegic. Drawing has now become his life, lying on the floor he sketches beautiful/cultural masterpieces. Proceeds from our gift packs go to his wellbeing, whilst promoting this special artist from Fiji to the world. 

 

Api,eleki (Api)  for his friends is a very special artist, doing sketches with ink on cardboard.   He is self-taught and draws from his mind as much as from images, he sees.   He previously worked as a flight attendant with Air Pacific and played rugby as a way of maintaining his fitness for work requirements.
